We're flattered by the praise we've received. Would it be immodest to say we're not really surprised?

The Phantom called ours this year's Best Pasta and put us in the Phantom 100!

From the Phantom Gourmet:
"Porcini's has the feel of an intimate European cafe. An open kitchen, colorful tiles and murals, and a glowing fireplace set the tone. The Mediterranean menu offers a wide range of choices, but it's the pasta and risotto specials that have been garnering praise above all. Pasta dishes include Penne Bolognese, the classic Southern Italian meat and tomato sauce, feather-light potato gnocchi, and angel hair with basil, garlic, and tomato. The risottos change daily, but on Phantom's visit, he enjoyed a delectable Fisherman's Risotto. Phantom's Favorite: Risotto"

Porcini's Restaurant in Watertown, Ma serves a variety of cuisine from head chef Rodney Moreira. Originally from Brazil, Rodney immigrated to the United States in 1987 and started as a prep cook at Pizzeria Uno. Since then, his passion for food and cooking has continued to develop, and Rodney has worked and trained with some great chefs in the Boston area, including three from the Museum of Fine Arts- Jim Dodge, Benjamin Cevelo and Anthony DiParma. Rodney's skills have been recognized two years in a row by the Phantom Gourmet; in 2002, Porcini’s was awarded “Best Pasta” and in 2003 was awarded “Best Risotto.” He was recently asked by Ken Oringer of Clio to be involved in a cookbook to benefit Dana Farber Institute. The cookbook “Great Chefs Cooking for great friends” was just released in September of 2004.

Featuring cuisine from Italy, Greece, Southern France, and Morocco; complimented with some of the finest wines available in New England - all served by an attentive staff in a cozy and intimate setting with a fireplace blazing in the Winter months and a lovely garden patio in Spring and Summer.

One of the Boston area's most dependable spots for Mediterranean cuisine, located in the heart of Watertown. - Contributor

With dishes from Italy, Greece, France and Morocco, Porcini's menu can truly be classified as "Mediterranean." There are more than 40 wines available by the bottle. The cozy dining area basks in the warm glow of a fireplace. Come summertime, patrons can enjoy their wild mushroom strudel, veal osso buco and shrimp pappardelle on the garden patio.
