So this is definitely our new neighborhood watering hole, because it was yummy tonight and it's within a block from our house. Four of us went for dinner, and found it more upscale than expected. We all got sandwiches of different sorts (two of us have burgers, mine was blue cheese and medium rare) and were all really happy with our chow. The only complaint that there was little that was vegan friendly, said our vegan friend. We ordered the fried onion rings and green beans and a plate of the deviled eggs to start, and they were great, particularly the onion rings.....they were sweet and stringy. Our sandwiches were served with frites with the skin and they were seasoned really nicely. My burger ($9) was blue cheesy and awesomely greasy and just want I wanted for dinner, because I was starving. For four of us, it was about $60, including two PBR tall boys which don't break the bank at $2.50 each. The service was good all around everywhere, and very laid back, which I prefer. So fast forward a few hours.....we end up back here, this time on the bar side. Seven of us went for drinks and ended up playing Connect Four and couples Trivial Pursuit (we won!) and had drinks. Beer is indeed quite a bargain, though I stuck with drinks. I tried out the Blueberry Dorchester, which was blueberry vodka, lemonade, cucumber, and blueberries, and was really refreshing and yummy. The cucumber gave it a cool mellow flavor and it wasn't at all overwhelming. It was a little more expensive at $9 a pop, but not stingy on the booze. The music was great, and it was being played by one of the owners/workers from Stereo Jack's, which is on Mass. Ave near Porter. It was good tunes, and fit the laid back atmosphere. I am really happy to have this place, and look forward to trying out new places around here. We will be seeing much more of you soon, Independent.
