Welcome to Somerville

Somerville, MA is a city just north of Boston on the other side of the Charles River and next to Cambridge, MA. Somerville was originally part of Charlestown before it was incorporated in 1842. Somerville is commonly known as a working class city with Irish and Italian American roots. Somerville neighborhoods like Davis Square and Union Square have recently transformed themselves into hip neighborhoods with trendy restaurants, cool boutiques and thriving art communities. Portugeuse neighborhoods like Magoun Square have also had a transformative and positive effect on Somerville. The city of Somerville is also the most densely populated municipality in New England, and the most dense in the United States outside the NYC metropolitan area.
