Johnny D's is a Boston institution owned and operated by the DeLellis family for 36 years. On any given night you may see Cajun fiddle masters from Louisiana, British folk stars, or some of Boston's finest rockers...
Johnny D's Uptown in Davis Square is both a family restaurant and a cool music scene. The owners are so nice and it has that neighborhood bar feel. The events are fun, they have sports on TV and the food is very good, creative and healthy. I go a few time a year but wish I could go more often. It can get very busy because it is not huge for a live band bar, but I have seen excellent local music. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
The special thing about Johnny D's is their daily live events... but I have not been there for those things. The food is very good. In particular, the weekend live jazz brunch is one of the best breakfasts (heck, the best breakfast) in the square, in my opinion. Great blintzes. I like the oatmeal sides that include brown sugar and raisins. Mmmm.
