Stressed?

You do not have to have an injury to benefit from a massages or bodywork session. Try either the Therapeutic massage, our Shiatsu bodywork, or a new Ayurvedic massage - any one of these three modalities can help restore a renewed sense of calm after a frantic day (or week). For variety, try Thai bodywork/ massage or Acupuncture (similar to Shiatsu).

Headache?

Headaches are becoming quite common in the workplace where computers are in constant use and individual postures are compromised with elevated shoulders and outreaching arms. Headaches, migraines, jaw tension (TMJD), and post-whiplash issues are often alleviated, if not entirely resolved, with Integrative Bodywork and/or CranioSacral Therapy and/or Rehab Myotherapy.

Back Pain?

Back pain is extremely common and can often persist for months, and the cause(s) sometimes can seem elusive when a specific event can not be recalled. The Massage Therapy approach to helping resolve your specific issue depends much upon your current condition and past history. Therapeutic Massage will help begin the healing process. Integrative Massage, involving a more comprehensive and inclusive approach, will be even more effective. Rehab Motherapy, Acupuncture, and Chinese Massage - working at even deeper levels - are our most reliable healing therapies when a significant muscle strain has resulted in chronic pain due to stagnant qi (energy).

Sports injury?

Boston surely loves its' sports! The Massage Therapy Works clientele consists of runners, triathletes, cyclists, rowers, dancers, martial artists, weekend soccer players, weekend softball players, professional ice skaters, tennis players, hockey players, swimmers, skiers, mountain bikers, kayakers, snowboarders, fitness instructors and more.
Soft-tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, and connective tissue) strains are quite common among athletes and can be quite painful. The most successful approach is to first assess the nature of the injury, i.e. Rehab Motherapy and Spinal Reflex Analysis, and then using various massage techniques restore a sense of ease to that area of imbalance. For acute injuries try one of the following modalities: Integrative Massage, Neuromuscular Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, or Chinese Massage.

Preparing for an athletic event?

Let their professional staff of bodyworkers help you to tune-up your muscles. Having relaxed, long, limber muscles is critical for optimal performance. Our Sports Massage is designed to maximize your range of motion, and eliminate (or minimize) unnecessary restrictive tension. Take advantage of Boris's deep tissue technique. He has the knowledge and skills to optimize your body's performance.

Expecting a baby?

Being pregnant can be very stressful - both physically and emotionally. Massage Therapy Works in Somerville has performed more than 800 prenatal massages. Their professionally-trained staff is prepared to assist you throughout the full term of your pregnancy with our Prenatal Massage. You will find advanced training plus years of experience.

Female health issues?

Since some health issues may be a result of visceral restrictions due to age, surgeries, and stress we are fortunate to be able to offer Acupuncture to address your challenging health issues.

Lacking energy lately?

Fatigue is often a symptom of dealing with way too much stress, past trauma, exhaustion - both physically and mentally, anxiety, depression, an energy imbalance, a structural imbalance, chronic pain, poor nutrition, dehydration and more. To counteract the effects of stress and re-balance your systems, Massage Therapy Works suggest you try Asian Bodywork, Shiatsu, Acupuncture, or CranioSacral Therapy.

Proactive about your health?

Health and well-being can no longer be taken for granted. Our immune systems have become compromised from the low-nutritional value of the food we eat and from all of the unhealthy food additives and toxic medications we take daily.
Acupuncture or Shiatsu is a great way to begin your transition away from disease.

We've used Massage Therapy Works corporate wellness program for what we like to call "company massage day" Everybody feels so relaxed and happy after one of their visits. Even though each massage only lasts about 15 minutes some serious stress is relieved. Their staff has been great, always on time and full of tips on how we can be kinder to our bodies while at work. I definitely recommend Massage Therapy Works for any office.

I had always been meaning to get a massage as well I imagined how good it would feel when I was little I had my grandmother give me them all the time and have been wanting to get one for a while so now that I have i can say that everything I imagined was way off the massage felt a million times better i'm much more relaxed sleeping better and ready for another one i almost fell asleep while i was getting it. I really think that this should be some kind of treatment i mean if your a smoker you get a massage the last thing thats going to be on your mind is a cigarette or whatever you want. All you do is relax and think about nothing.

I just had the greatest massage from Richard. I didn't know how tense I was until after it was over. My entire body feels relaxed. He knew exactly what muscles I used the most and focused on the right areas. I was never very comfortable with the idea of a massage, but now I changed my mind. It not only relaxed my body, but my entire mind!

I've been getting regular massages at MTW since spring of 1998. They are great body workers: friendly, professional, and caring. I come out rejuvenated every time. They take care of my psyche as well as my muscles. I cannot say enough good things about my experiences with MTW.

I called in one morning because my body was in pain and I didn't know what to do. Richard asked me to come in right away, helped me figure out what was wrong and with Bob worked with me until my pain was gone. I'm very thankful and recommend this place 100%.

This place is great. I have never really been entirely comfortabe getting a massage, but Massage Therapy Works was great. The staff are friendly, professional, and most of all, really help you relax. If you are looking for place where you will completely comfortable, give this place a try.

For a long time I struggled with some terrible back spasms caused by a car accident (so I'm told). I tried chiropractors, I tried physical therapy, and I tried medication. They all had their place. But for me, for long term relief and substantial improvement, massage therapy has become the only way. I've been going to Massage Therapy Works for about two years now, and I couldn't dream of any other solution. I've been to a lot of differeny massage therapists, and MTW is by far, the best. Richard, Gordon, Bob, Jan - all true professionals and they each have unique skills. I highly recommend Massage Therapy Works.
