The Square Nail Studio in Somerville is a funky boutique style nail salon located in the heart of Davis Square, across from the redline T. This Davis Square nail salon specializes in natural nail care in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Heather, owner of The Square Nail Studio and nail technician, has worked in the salon industry for almost twenty years. Working in mostly modern salons, Heather dreamed of copper pedicure tubs, wood tables, mismatched chairs and fabrics, and lots of pillows - through The Square Nail Studio, that is exaclty what Heather created.


In the summer of 2002, Heather opened the Square Nail Studio in Davis Square, Somerville. Not your average nail salon, The Square Nail is more fitting to it's size; a studio. Rustic atmosphere, comfy chairs, great music, candles and really great company await you. Here's what Heather has to say about her location in Davis Square.

"I found that the people in Boston and more specifically in Davis
Square are some of the nicest, most down-to-earth, artistic and
wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The square,
its business and residents have responded so well to the studio and
I grin every time someone comments on how cute it is, or how nice it
smells or my favorite, "that was the best manicure i've ever had!" I
meet the best folks every day and often times I feel that it wasn't just
me waiting for them. Sometimes I think they were waiting for me too.

The Square Nail Studio Manicure
At The Square Nail Studio manicures last 30 minutes and are an old-fashioned indulgent treat for the hands and nails which includes a consultation on shape and length, attention to the health and wellness of the cuticle while cleaning the nail plate, free edge, and surrounding tissue. No square manicure is complete without a hand and upper arm massage with your choice of an aromatic oil. $20


The Square Nail Studio Pedicure
The Square Nail Studio's specialty is providing a relaxing pedicure experience. As with the manicure, a consultation is essential to obtaining a shape and length that is healthy and appropriate to your lifestyle and level of activity. The staff at the Square Nail Salon will address the health and wellness of the cuticle, nail plate, and surrounding tissue. A thorough exfoliation with callous removal is performed prior to a moisturizing salt or sugar scrub. However, the true treat of any pedicure service is the foot and lower leg massage. The Square nail Salon pedicure last 60 minutes. $40

I brought my mom into The Square Nail Studio for a manicure because she can't stand the smell of typical nail salons. This Salon was perfect for her. Her manicure turned out great and she loved the natural products they use!

The Square Nail Studio has changed my entire impression of nail salons... there is no toxic smell, no overbright lights, no strange nail photos on the walls. It feels more like you're out for afternoon tea or browsing in an antique store. The best is to grab an ice cream from JP Licks next store while you have a pedicure :)

I have to say I was disapointed. While the staff was quite nice I found what they provide simply wasn't worth the price. Also, I think my main concern is that they are not using only natural products - they use the same nail polish that every other salon uses. Just because they use Burts Bees products doesn't mean they can call themselves "natural". Overall I felt mislead by their natural claim, the accomodations cute but not worth the high prices.

I love this place. I would never go anywhere else to have a pedicure or manicure done. The small space is very relaxing, and the staff is very attentive and efficient. And just for emphasis... one more time... this place is so cute!

Heather at Square Nails Studio is Fabulous! The natural products she uses and the calm and soothing setting is truely an indulgence for the senses! My best friend and I went there for some pre-wedding pampering and the experience became a memory!
