Originally known as Cambridge Farms, Lexington was first settled in 1642. Lexington is most famous for being the site of the opening shots of the American Revolution. Other historical landmarks include Buckman Tavern, Munroe Tavern, and the Hancock-Clarke House. Central to the town is Lexington's town center, home to numerous restaurants, fine art galleries, retail shops, a small cinema as well as the minute man bikeway.
