OM Restaurant & Lounge in Harvard Square is ok, not the greatest place for dinner. The atmosphere is pretty cool, but I'm not so much into the food or drinks.
I have to say, I was not much impressed with OM in Harvard Square. I had never been there, despite having lived here for a while. I had seen the website and wow it looks hip, colorful, relaxing. I went here with a friend, and we found it to be awkward, somewhat empty for a Friday evening but most importantly pretty expensive for the food and cocktails that left little desire for more. We ordered an appetizer of the chick pea "fries" which, when they came, were thick chunks of some sort of chic pea batter that had been deep fried. However, they were gooey, pasty and somewhat tasteless, not appetizing in the least. My friend and I also ordered a drink called, "Purple Rain.” It was a good attempt at something, like a Mojito, but there was so much muddled mint and black berry sludge collecting in the bottom of the drink it was like eating a swamp. We were constantly asking each other if there were bits in our teeth...again, not appetizing. I probably won't go back to OM as the prices are steep for such strange concoctions, nor will I recommend this place to any out-of-towners. Save your money, and if you find yourself in the mood for Purple Rain, do as OM did not, and leave it to Prince.
