Ace Wheelworks, in Davis Square Somerville has long been a resource for cyclists in the Porter/Davis Square area. Though smaller than our Belmont store, it's bursting at the seams with the wide range of bicycles and products Wheelworks offers its customers. The friendly, unassuming staff member helping you may just be a former Olympic cyclist, current National Collegiate Champ, a rock star, or someone whose career in bicycles spans many decades. There's hardly a day when the entire staff didn't commute to work by bicycle. The collective enthusiasm and energy of this shop is as infectious as the sport of cycling itself. Big fan. They carry a good range of manufacturers so I didn't feel like I was getting pushed into a particular brand and the consultation they offer is knowledgeable yet not intimidating. It does get jammed on weekends so best go during the week as they open fairly late.

This place is a stand up bike joint. I love it here. I bought a road bike here after checking out a few other local shops and it was an easy choice to come to Ace. The staff are REALLY helpful and attentive and really listen to what you are looking for. I didn't feel intimidated or like I was being suckered into buying "a bunch of equipment" along with my bike (other shops have tried to do that). Now, I've got a bike that is perfect for me, and I love it! I ride it everywhere. The mechanics are great too, if you ever want some tips on changing out a tube or knowing more about psi and tires, they are always willing and happy to help!

I just bought a bike from there two months ago - the staff listened to my needs and worked with me to find the best fit! Best advice - don't go during weekends, and make certain that you work with the same person or you won't get the attention you need since the place can get really crazy.
