South End restaurant enjoys a high-profile location while serving affordable, upscale comfort fare. - Gerrish Lopez
Formerly Perdix and Truc, this subterranean South End space is now home to Pops, a stylish and affordable bistro serving contemporary updates on classic dishes. Patrons choose between the intimate dining room, a romantic sun porch, seating along the kitchen counter or a space on the tiny sidewalk patio. Nothing on the dinner menu tops $20, with dishes like grilled Merguez lamb sausage with white bean ragout or crispy skin salmon with cucumber noodles and black sesame rice costing in the high teens.
I am never satisfied leaving Pops. The food is just ok and the layout of the restaurant is weird. Get a table in the sunroom in the back if you do go. Nothing special, I think they are surviving on their location mor than anything.
Not only does POPS have a stellar brunch there dinner menu also kicks but. The bread is reason enough to go there and furthermore....drum roll please........they have a whole section of the menu devoted to MIMOSA'S!!! life is good at POPS!
