Jamaica Plain, in Boston, MA is a diverse and vibrant community, with its main thoroughfare lined with countless local businesses, artful graffiti, busy sidewalks and the old tracks of trolley cars from days past. Outside of the busy commercial district of JP are some of Boston's best parks, including the Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park, and Jamaica Pond. It's also referred to as "JP."

It's a historic neighborhood in Boston that was originally part of Roxbury and then part of the town of West Roxbury. JP was annexed to Boston in 1874. Centre Street, Day Street, and Perkins Street make up JP today, as they did when it was first settled around 1640.
