Allston Village is a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, located in the western part of the city. The community of Allston is also its own municipality, often referred to as "Allston-Brighton." The population of Allston is made up of students, mostly from Boston University, Boston College, and Harvard University, local residents and working professionals. Allston used to be a section of The Town of Brighton until Brighton was annexed by the City of Boston in 1874. The B Line of the Boston MBTA subway Green Line runs through Allston along Commonwealth Avenue. Allston is also affectionately referred to by some as Rock City due mostly to a large population of local musicians and music venues.
