DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE - DAVID IS A SHYSTER! The man who runs this shop talks incessently about what a wonderful cobbler/shoe repairman he is when he take your shoes in for repair. He then makes you pay up front, whatever amount comes to mind, and gives you a ticket marked paid without any detail of what you have paid. At the beginning of August 2008, I brought two pairs of sandels in for repair. They were both slip ons that did not stay on my feet. He suggested adding a back strap to each pair as a solution. Since one pair was a fushia pink color, I questioned him on if he would be able to match the leather. He assured me that he would be able to as he goes to NY on weekends and would be able to match it without any problem. He then charged me $10.00 for a pair that was black, and $20.00 for the fushia, as he indicated that they would be more work with the color matching etc. At the time that I dropped them off (August 9, 2008), I indicated that I was leaving the US for a three week vacation on August 26th and would need the sandels by that time. He told me that they would be ready on August 22, 2008 and that I could pick them up then. I called him on August 22, 2008 to find out if he would be there on Monday August 25, 2008 as I would like to pick my shoes up on that date (8/25/08). I made the call as he often is not available during the hours of operation that he has posted at his business. He questioned me about what shoes I would be picking up then assured me that he would be there on August 25, 2006 and that I could pick up my shoes then. On Monday, I called his business all day long and there was no answer. I went to the shop at around 3:30 PM and he was closed without any explanation posted. When I returned from vacation in mid September, I called to find out why he had not been there as promised on August 25, 2008 for me to pick up my shoes. At this time, he informs me that the shoes are not done, as he has had a hard time finding a match for the straps to the fushia color. I questioned him as to why he told me that I could pick them up on 8/25/08, if they were still not done by September 15, 2008. He indicated that I misunderstood, but that he was going to NY again the week end of the 20th and would find a match or dye another piece of leather to match. I called today 9/26/08 and got the same story about how he is going to NY etc etc. I told him that my husband would be in to pick up both pairs of shoes, and that I expected my $20.00 which I paid for the pink shoes to be refunded. At this point he stated that I was charged $15.00 for each pair because again, I didn't remember what he charged me or misunderstood, and that I would only get $15.00 back. When I argued this point, he hung up the phone on me. He is a rude, condesending man who I am sure will fail at this business very soon. I intend to report him to the Better Business Bureau as well, but wanted to warn others of his unscrupulous business practices and failure to follow through on work paid for in advance.
